Living in God’s kingdom and following Jesus means that we lead others to God by our love. Yes, love ought to be the language of every Christian. When people meet us, do they feel God’s presence and joy? Do they feel welcomed? Throughout our world, there are symbols that convey a welcome approach. Some of these you see very often, like a sign as you enter a new city, state, or province. The sign might say “Welcome!” and tell you a bit about the community. As you enter this area, you feel that people are happy to have you there.
The Catholic Church also has something that welcomes all people. It is Jesus on the Cross. His arms are opened wide for everyone to approach him.
