Grade 4 Lesson 13

Family Honor

As we saw in the last lesson, prayer is the way we follow God and communicate with him. Did you know that God is a family of love: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit? We call God the Holy Trinity. This is the most important “mystery’ of our Catholic Christian Faith. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exist in an eternal relationship of love together. Each Divine Person of the Trinity pours out their love upon one another. They have been doing this for all eternity, and they desire for us to enter into this relationship of love. How amazing!

We not only belong to God’s family by our Baptism, but we also belong to a human family. Some families have two parents. Some have only one. Some families have no children. Others have many. Some families have grandparents, parents, and children. Foster families are made up of guardians and foster children. Extended families may include cousins, aunts, and uncles. There are adopted families and stepfamilies, too. The family is to model the Holy Trinity. Jesus calls each family to be holy.
