Have you ever heard Jesus speak? If you have been to the Divine Liturgy or the Mystery of Penance, you should answer “yes!” After Jesus ascended to Heaven, he did not just leave us to figure things out on our own. He gave his Church the gift of Holy Orders (bishops, priests, and deacons) to continue his mission on earth. They represent Jesus in today’s Church. When they speak and act while celebrating the Holy Mysteries, we hear Christ speaking and see him acting. Holy Orders helps us to follow God by offering us the Holy Mysteries. Without them, we could not get to Heaven. This is why we thank God for our deacons, priests, and bishops.
